Since our doors opened in April 1974, strategy has been the driving force behind everything we do. It’s this strategic mindset that guides us in cultivating relationships, creating conversations and telling stories on behalf of our clients.

NST conceptualizes and facilitates the launch of a new nationwide affinity club for Chicken of the Sea called "The Mermaid Club," which grows to more than 260,000 members.

NST leveraged Jessica Simpson's now famous line, "Is it chicken what I have or is this fish?" with publicity efforts to garner millions of impressions for Chicken of the Sea's new Chunkier Chunk Light Tuna.

What do you get when you ask fanatics to submit uses for your product? In WD-40 Company's case, you get more than 300,000 submissions. NST narrowed the to 2,000 and used it as the basis to form an affinity club for the brand, which grew to more than 100,000 members.

Bill knows the true meaning of climbing the corporate ladder, having joined NST as an intern in 1986. In 2000, he was named president of NST and has since led the firm to both regional and national acclaim.

The first edition of CEO Kerry Tucker's textbook "Public Relations Writing: An Issue-Driven Behavioral Approach" is published. The book, used in classrooms across the country, ties the development of PR tactics to strategic planning and to a behavioral approach to writing.

Local boy Dennis Connor's 1987 America's Cup win marks a significant milestone in NST's history (this was the first major project for NST intern Bill Trumpfheller). NST would go on to provide PR support for the next two America's Cup races in San Diego, and the America's Cup World Series.

Nuffer, Smith & Assoc. manages the first joint Tijuana-San Diego research and strategy effort designed to define mutual problems and action plans for the region.

After joining the firm the year prior, Kerry Tucker is named president of Nuffer, Smith & Assoc., while Dave Nuffer assumes the position of CEO. In 1985, Tucker's name is added to the firm to officially become Nuffer, Smith, Tucker.
